A message from the clinicians of Houston Psychotherapists
Celebrating Brett Ritchie’s Retirement
It is with both joy and a touch of sadness that we celebrate the retirement of Brett Ritchie, a cornerstone of Houston Psychotherapists since October 2012. Over his remarkable tenure, Brett has guided over nine hundred clients through their mental health journeys, investing more than nineteen thousand therapeutic hours of his clinical expertise, patience, and genuine care.
Brett’s impact extends far beyond the clinical hour. He’s been an unwavering mentor to our interns and newly licensed clinicians, a trusted source of consultation for both new and seasoned therapists, and perhaps most importantly, a steady, calm presence in our sometimes chaotic landscape. Brett was our resident expert in psychosis and the go-to knowledge base for best practices with this clinical population — a role he carried with both depth and humility. And because no practice runs on clinical skill alone, Brett also became our unofficial facilities director: master assembler of IKEA and Amazon furniture, keeper of chairs, and — perhaps most critically — our champion water bottle changer extraordinaire. Whether you sought his clinical wisdom or his recommendations (unsolicited and often very much solicited) for the best fishing spots and Disneyland trips and trading pins, Brett always showed up with generosity and good humor.
Though Brett didn’t start with us from day one, he arrived exactly when we needed him most and has been instrumental in shaping the success and culture of our practice ever since. He’s given so much of his time, strength, and experience to our community, our clients, and each other.
Brett, thank you for everything. We wish you a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement filled with calm waters, good company, and furniture that someone else has to put together.
